Mentoring in Medicine, Inc. (MIM) – CA Chapter
Clinical Exposure Program at Highland Hospital
The mission of MIM- CA is to increase the presence of underrepresented healthcare professionals through mentorship, career exposure and leadership development.
Purpose of CEP Program
MIM – CA Chapter’s Clinical Exposure Program (CEP) is a six (6) month program where College students are immersed into
- Direct patient observation
- Attend monthly journal clubs
- Attend skill/leadership development seminars
- Present patient summaries, and
- Meet a broad network of health professionals.
Additionally, CEP students have the opportunity to share their knowledge with younger students, receive one-on-one career advising with a physician, and can be directed to research opportunities.
Purpose of Internship
The purpose of the shadow program is to expose disadvantaged undergraduate student to a variety of experiences in the acute health care setting at an academic medical center. Mentoring in Medicine partners with local health pipeline programs, Highland Hospital’s Emergency Department, and other private/public clinics. While not initially required, you will be asked to provide unofficial transcripts and a resume, so please have an updated version of both. |

Important Dates
October 1st: CEP Application DUE
October 22nd: Students NOTIFIED of program acceptance
November 9th, 2010: Mandatory orientation at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA
Program Duration and Requirements
Students that are accepted are required to participate for the entire length of the program (November 2010 -–April 2011).
